  • Lemonade

    Sometimes you just have to have your back when no one else does. I have been dealing with a flighty, wishy-washy & inconsistent person for a while now. On my birthday I had enough & made some calls. I also sent some emails detailing what wasn’t happening.

    Now, I made lemonade out of lemons. You have to will the universe to change sometimes & that’s what I did. I have been working very hard the last few weeks & felt that I wasn’t being heard until my birthday that is.

    I found out recently that I am pretty good at sales & a good at working with others. Something I needed to figure out again after a long absence from working. I’m happy about it & I have had a great boss for the last few weeks, fair & good at training people.

    I feel like I made lemonade all on my own with very little guidance. Something I made a fuss about because if you’re phoning it in you’re not doing your job. I stood up for myself & about damn time too. So next time someone strings you along cut the rope & be done with it.

  • Why I won’t be watching the Olympics this year.

    After watching part of an episode of an NRK show I’ve decided that I won’t watch the Olympics. Maybe it has to do with what they talked about on the show, or maybe it was how a mighty country like China strong-armed a small country into teaching them the ways of cross country skiing.

    Oh with a little salmon on the side of course, soo they can brag about having both Norwegian salmon & being taught how to ski properly. As I now see it the IOC is a highly corrupted body of countries. By awarding China a Summer & a Winter games within a decade of each other. The IOC is saying the same thing as Qatar, whitewashing both countries to over shadow what takes place to minorities & Muslims in the countries. In Qatar it’s been the

    treatment of the workers building the stadiums in China it’s the relentless pursuit of a person’s inner communication & thoughts. By none other than person to person surveillance. Neighbors telling on each other et cetera. Not to speak of the “special” app that athletes are being forced to use while they compete in the games.

    China is a surveillance state & a country that jail people for independent thought & religion. Something I am no longer ok with. When one hosts the Olympics, it should be in a country like New Zealand or Finland. Somewhere where human rights abuses aren’t what’s being swept under the rug or glossed over with the promise of Gold medals & recognition. When people are being mistreated right by where the Norwegian coaches China hired to teach them how to ski.

    When I was in college I got a minor in Asian studies & I often thought that I’d go visit China, but no longer. The glitter has fallen off & the gloss has all but disappeared. All I think of are the people that have lost their right to speak & to think freely without punishment. No thanks. I’ll watch the next Winter games & will skip this one. Skiing may be in our DNA but that doesn’t mean we “have to” teach it to a country like China.

  • Winter storms

    Lately, we’ve been hammered with storms, one after the other. We had snow but thanks to mild temperatures it has all but melted away. Not to speak of the avalanche & mudslide danger we have on top of the gusts of wind.

    But onto other things, I am nearly done with my pandemic project, my second book!! I discovered recently that I had written way more than I thought. Something I am very proud of; it’s not been easy but it has been worth it.

    In other good tidings, I found a bookstore that wants to carry my first book! Yay. I am bringing the owner copies next week! It’ll be good to have some physical copies out there for people to read. I have quite a few other things going on as well but will write more about that later.

    I am looking forward to my birthday walk in a few weeks & picking up some flowers to brighten our living room where we just re-upholstered our dining room chairs. Till next time, chin up & get vaccinated.
