• As our short jaunt to CPH winds down, I am grateful for cafes with excellent coffee & people watching. CPH has been adventure. With some highlights, such as Democratic Coffee off the main drag & café Wilder where we ate on the first night.

We had a total miss at a supposed good restaurant. But you can only eat soo much cream & pea shoots in your meal. I for one was disappointed in the pricey dinner. The hotel, NH Collection had a total miss on our first night.

They remedied the situation & gave us a better room with late check out today. Something I really appreciated. They also booked a spa treatment in the hotel for my husband for his birthday.

CPH has been full of surprises & let downs. Of course you can’t get away from the tourist that photographs their coffee, dinners et cetera. Something I find really obnoxious & it makes them stick out.

It’ll be good to come home for a few weeks. Till next time.

  • Green

To me Green is a sign of Spring, telling me that Summer is just around the corner. Our fruit trees sprout little green leaves in Spring. Grass goes from ashen brown from Winters frost to a light shade of green.

My allergies flare up with the hardier trees dropping pollen, forces me to blow my nose. The poet’s all call it a renewal & a new beginning. When the temperature here in Norway goes above 50 the vipers come out from their Winter sleep & carrying poison that has been stored in their bodies all Winter.

In the mild 50 degree weather, birds once reliant on the feeder finds worms in our yard. The optimistic begin wearing shorts even though the temperature still drops in the afternoon. Sometimes you’ll see people in their down jackets that end up around their waist.

Green means more to me now than it did when I lived across the pond. Spring means more because Winters can be harsh & cold. You still see parents over dressing their children, afraid that the light wind will make them cold.

When I lived above the artic circle, Spring hadn’t begun until the fountains in the town where turned on & the snow was only in the mountains & not in the town. I can see in my neighborhood that the ashen colors will soon turn green. A small renewal I look forward to each year.

  • Two inches of Spring

It’s April, so you’d think that snow has ended. Nope. We got two inches of the white stuff last night & today I had to wear wool & winter coat when I left the house. It’s melting somewhat but still.

The hammering below us starts at 730 each morning & lasts most of the afternoon. The four legged creature has learned to sleep through the noise. He occasionally sits up if it’s a new sound coming from the work site.

I’m okay, things are moving along & at the end of the month we celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday out of town. Something I’m really looking forward to. Traveling again will be great!!

I miss the trees we had on the property before the construction began. They gave us privacy & the birds loved it. It’s just sad how little of our property we have left. Makes me sad, really.

But it is Spring soo I guess that’s good?! It’ll be interesting to see how this month shakes out?
