it seems my often misguided & rude neighbors are now taking it upon themselves to openly harass me as i walk home & when i am going to the places i volunteer. hence, i maintain this blog show my state of mind & how i feel about what is currently happening.

since i am not working i have been volunteering for 2 different organizations which take me to different parts of the city & usually with a varied schedule. as sometimes i go to people’s homes to give them vouchers for food & for rent. i also answer the phone for another non-profit & will be teaching a course on budgeting this Summer.

i was leered @ earlier this week by a woman who is morbidly obese & from what i can gather a shut-in. on my way home just now i was harassed by tall man with long black hair and lean body who i have never seen before today. who called me a nasty name in front of a church. i didn’t turn around or reply as i have been harassed for a good deal of my life & recognize how i can better build a court case is of course by not responding. i called my husband when i got home.

i have no idea what caused the neighbors to start treating me like a piranha but also recognize that bullies often have problems of their own that have nothing to do with me. however, when they encounter me they feel that their harassing behavior is somehow *justified* i just view for what it is. bullying.

i won’t change my schedule because i value making a difference in the community & the change i bring to it. this is just a public record of what occurred today.

  • judged by a jacket

last June when i was on my honeymoon i bought a jacket on the Hurtigruten my husband and i took because i wanted to remember our honeymoon and i needed a waterproof jacket. never in a million years was i expecting to be called names on trains, buses and in public for wearing it. that’s what has been steadily happening in the last couple of months.

i am essentially being called names because i am wearing a jacket that can’t be bought on the internet and the one i was lucky enough to grab i got on the ferry. it saddens me that our culture is turning on itself-when strangers are harassing one another in public for what? i also understand that i have always been a target for bullies, abusive men and for being judged. i consider myself cute but i am also book smart and look pretty good for my age.

however, because of all the insults i have had hurled at me forced me to buy a new jacket and once the new jacket comes i will cease to wear the other one. even though i initially had great memories connected to it. i think it’s sad-because i recently subjected myself to one of the worst adult behaviors i have seen by what i can only describe is people with jobs-not morals. they outed when i lost a baby last fall and i became fodder for a bunch of people i wouldn’t even donate a kidney to.

no, i am done wasting my time with mean people, judgmental and rude people. why-because if they treated me like that i don’t want to know how they treat their nannies, house keepers and their personal shoppers. my guess is that it’s not with kindness because people that are mean and judgmental have managed to get by acting that their entire lives and as i had a good friend say-they don’t deserve me. which is true. i also don’t want to be part of some out dated clique. please act like adults not like when you where the most popular kid in high school, considering it was nearly 25 years ago. grow up.

  • feb. 2011

in the past month my life became very hectic. after hearing that one of my relatives wasn’t doing very well i was asked if i could help. as i volunteer with 2 different non-profits locally i enjoy making a difference and seeing the changes that helping someone i need can bring.

i was in Northern Norway for 3 weeks where the daytime high was in the teens and there was wind chill. i only brought with me 3 sweaters, Uggs and enough wool socks for a week-i also took my 22″ suitcase. upon arrival there was over an inch of snow @ the airport and it snowed continually for the first week.

however, i love my espresso and was sent out to do errands in the town i was in as well as get my coffee fix everyday. the walk into the town was short but scenery was beautiful so i began taking my camera with me everywhere.

wearing 3 layers on-top and long underwear under my jeans got old. so i decided the last week i was there that i would only wear long underwear if it was below a certain temperature. in the 3 weeks i was there i saw improvement and gratitude-but the favorite part of my trip was being in Oslo during the FIS Championship and seeing an old friend of mine and spending quality time with my cousin.

i am back in rain and 45 degree temps and find the days balmy in comparison. i have placed my Uggs back on the shelf and i hope i won’t have to take them out until next winter. below are the ski tracks from when i was in Bjornfjell one day.
