We woke up this morning to not a drop of water in our house. The water pipe had frozen solid as the plumber had “forgotten” to plug it in. Such a good start to our Sunday morning.
A few hours later, we showered at my husband’s office. Not the Sunday I had in mind. We come home have waffles & he takes the dog for a hike. Within the hour we finally had our water working again.
You don’t realize how much you depend on something till you don’t have it. I now realize how much I take water for granted. Expecting it to always work. To be a given, it’s not.
I think in modern society we think that bare necessities will be there. It reminds me of when I was homeless & showering was my main priority. Although difficult I figured out that I could do it safely away from the street shelter.
Today was a stark reminder of that time for me. That one should not take anything for granted. Even something as basic as water & running toilet.
