Describe a decision you made in the past that helped you learn or grow.

Over 20 years ago, I had a fling with a really toxic guy. He accused me of cheating on him with my then roommate. He was a cracker programmer who dumped porno files in my laptop After the relationship had ended.

During the brief relationship he was controlling & abusive. That he would mask by saying he was “concerned.” However, he kept me away from my friends & my roommate & barely gave me room to breathe outside of the “relationship.” I recall going back to my apartment to check in with my roommate & he yelled at me for calling my mom back who had grown worried.

What the brief toxic relationship taught me is that love is not what that was. Love is trusting, open & honest. Not what that relationship was. If you see red flags don’t ignore them but get out ASAP.

What book could you read over and over again?

Carl Hiassen, is a comedic writer that writes really funny books. I could read his stuff all day!

Anything by Valerie Perrin, she’s great at writing about being young & not so bright.

Zadie Smith, a British writer with the flair for showing the darker sides of society. But her writing is spot on.

I’m a huge fan of reading diverse writers from all types of backgrounds. My favorite book is “A Town Called Alice” a book set in Australia during WWII in Alice Springs, a place I finally got to visit in 2015!

I’m free writing this so when I think about a book pops up in my head I write it down. Thanks for reading, I know it’s been a while since I’ve written!

What’s something most people don’t understand?

It’s like when you go to the bus stop & there’s nearly half a bus standing there & a bus shows up & 99% of the people get on the very crowded first bus when low & behold there’s a bus right behind the first one. With seats & space.

Or say it’s the grocery store & everyone rushes to the first 3 registers when there’s almost 10 of them. Half don’t have a line? Ha? Use your brain people. I mean your common sense!

It’s like the people in our neighborhood that go out just as the weather turns to crap. When there’s been over half a day of sun. Ha? Why not go out sooner? Oh yeah it’s the lack of common sense!
