What major historical events do you remember?

I can remember it as if it was yesterday. Sitting in my grade school library watching the take off. Then poof, all was lost. I recall the teachers didn’t know how to explain to us what had happened.

It was the first time I saw someone die live on television. I had a dream of becoming an astronaut that quickly faded that day. As a kid I admired Sally Field the first woman astronaut in the US. I even did a paper on her in grade school.

The Challenger disaster changed my view of the world, that someone could die within 90 seconds is horrific. To this day my dream of becoming an astronaut was lost that day.

I can remember walking around shell shocked the whole rest of the day after seeing the devastating events on TV.
